Prospective Site Evaluation
Each prospective gardening site has potential. The following questions will help determine if your site is well suited to oyster gardening. it is not necessary to answer YES to every question unless otherwise indicated. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at oystergardening@masgc.org.

1. Do you live on, or have access to salt (or brackish) water? *

2. Do you have a pier?
3. Is your prospective address "approved" by Mississippi DMR? *

4. Are you willing to allow Oyster Gardening personnel access to your site (pier, oysters, etc.) for the purposes of delivery of oysters, gathering measurement data from gardens, and for final collection of oysters? *

5. Do extreme low tides occur at your prospective site from June through November such that the bottom is exposed for more than 2 consecutive hours?
6. Are you willing to spend approximately 45 minutes, 2-3 times/month from June through November caring for your oysters while they grow?
7. Would you support oyster shell recycling in your favorite restaurant?
8. How would you rate the current oyster reef status in Mississippi?
9. What is the primary environmental challenge facing coastal Mississippi?
